OPPORTUNITIES FOR TRAINING IN SKILLS PROGRAMME

 

The Dr Lelau Mohuba Training Centre, an independent Training Centre wholly owned by Nokeng Fluorspar Mine, is situated in the area of Rust de Winter, some 80 km north east of Pretoria. The Training Centre is offering free skills training in blocks of 60 learners per period.

 

To be eligible for the training applicants must be from the following Nokeng Fluorspar Mine community catchment areas: Moloto, Rapotokwane, Rooikop, Phake, Pankop, Mametlhake, Pienaars River, Rust de Winter, De Wagensdrift and Nokaneng. Applicants will be required to provide proof of residence that is approved by the relevant Councillor and/or the Chief.

The above training does not automatically qualify successful learners to be employed by the Nokeng Fluorspar Mine. The training is, however, helpful for career success in all other industries. Successful learners will be assisted to compile their CV’s so that they can apply for jobs as is appropriate.

 

Successful applicants will receive free study materials and Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), which must be kept clean and safe at all times. Lectures will be provided by suitably qualified Course Facilitators. The mine will also provide transport to and from the Training Centre, as is appropriate.

 

The final selection of candidates will be made by a panel consisting of representatives of the mine, the training provider and members of the community engagement forum. Successful applicants will be required to undergo physical fitness check depending on the program chosen and will also be required to complete an indemnity form.

Position Summary: This position reports to the Maintenance Foreman.

Main Objectives: Support the mine by rendering transportation service for Process, Engineering and Services Department. Planning of each route trip, traffic conditions and managing tasks allocated.

Duties: Pre-shit inspection of allocated vehicle. Ensure the vehicle is serviced at pre-determined intervals. Conduct pre-trip inspection. Transportation of people to points are directed and returned to the points as instructed by the Maintenance Foreman. Safekeeping of the vehicle whenever it's not in use. Perform clerical work. Maintain value of the vehicle. Be willing to work extended hours. Perform any other duties as instructed by the Supervisor. 

Required Qualifications: 3 to 5 years' experience as a Driver. A valid driver's license (Code 10) with PDP. Clean driving records. Familiarity with GPS devices. Knowledge of area roads and neighbourhoods. A polite and professional disposition. Ability to remain calm in stressful driving situations (e.g. rush hour). NQF Level 4.
