Metallurgist
Location: Nokeng Fluorspar Mine, situated in the area of Rust De Winter, ± 80km north east of Pretoria

Position Summary: This position reports to the Production Manager and carries a 2.6.1 MHSA legal appointment for the plant. The incumbent is responsible for monitoring and advising on the settings of operational parameters to optimise performance, as well as identifying and communicating plant defects to the Production Manager.
Duties: Establish baseline operational variables. Conduct testing and calibrate systems and processes. Develop and coordinate the implementation of operating procedures. Optimise plant and equipment performance. Implement process modifications, modernisations and reconfigurations. Manage interface issues between metallurgy and other functions. Provide metallurgical and operational training to operations staff. Set up and conduct metallurgical accounting and reporting. Ensure SHEQ compliance within the department. Manage staff recruitment, supervision, discipline, time management, training, administration and reporting. Address issues related to role clarifications, planning, organisation, duty allocation, resource management, rosters and required support. Address staff responsibilities, role clarifications and allocations, control mechanisms, feedback loops, supervision, performance management, quality management, financial management, safety management, discipline and reporting.
Required Qualifications: B Degree/National Diploma in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering with relevant experience. Minimum 3 – 5 years of metallurgical experience in mineral processing, laboratory and mining environment. Good people management skills are a must.
