Artisan Electrician

Location: Nokeng Fluorspar Mine, situated in the area of Rust De Winter, ± 80km north east of Pretoria

Job Type: Permanent

Position Summary: This position reports to the Electrical Foreman. Support Electrical Foreman, Chargehand and Process Team in the operation of the metallurgical processing plant area. Cognitive ability to perform fault finding, do regular inspections, routine maintenance of equipment and machinery.

Responsibilities: Provide input in electrical planning process in terms of electrical and related materials required. Carry out isolation, energising and resetting of electrical equipment up to 11Kv or the prescribed limits by the Mine Engineer. Take part in the establishment of electrical standards and electrical operating procedures for the mine and ensure regular review for allocated areas of responsibility. Approved practical procedures and checklist for efficient and safe installation of electrical equipment and tools. Ensure adherence to regulations, electrical standards and safety procedure across the mine. Monitor power supply quality. Monitor adherence by contractors, to agree scope of work according to Service Level Agreement. Monitor the level of operation of electrical system and implications modification. Foster and maintain a positive safe work environment.

Required Qualifications: NQF Level 3 or equivalent qualification plus relevant trade and 5 years’ experience. MV Certificate and VSD experience will be an advantage.

Technical Superintendent: Metallurgy

Location: Nokeng Fluorspar Mine, situated in the area of Rust De Winter, ± 80km north east of Pretoria

Position Summary: A vacancy exists for a Technical Superintendent: Metallurgy to join the Nokeng Fluorspar Mine Operational Team. The incumbent will be the continuous improvement driver of the Metallurgical process through reporting on and analysing production performance, making recommendations and implementing projects, ensuring optimal low-cost operations. The incumbent reports to the Production Manager with core responsibilities, including but not limited to, research and development, process control and metallurgical test work.

Duties: Research and development of metallurgical design criteria and consequent process improvement implementation. Critically monitor operational procedures and quality standards. Analyse daily production parameters and metallurgical data. Make informed and time-critical decisions about operations parameters. Responsible for process control reviews to optimise process control strategies. Provide technical guidance to the Production Team.

Skills and Abilities: Must understand basic principles of flotation theory. Must have advanced Excel data analysis and statistical analysis skills. Experience in Python and other data analysis software will be beneficial. Very good report writing skills. Must have exceptional problem solving and analytical skills. Must have excellent attention to detail, critical thinking. Must be experienced and knowledgeable with sampling theory and metallurgical test work. Must understand the basics of metallurgical equipment functionality and design principles. Must have initiative and drive to improve production standards. Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Required Qualifications: Experienced Metallurgist with minimum 5 years’ operations experience in comminution and flotation plants and preferably 2 years middle management experience. The candidate must have a Bachelor’s Degree in Metallurgical or Chemical Engineering.

Junior Geologist

Location: Nokeng Fluorspar Mine, situated in the area of Rust De Winter, ± 80km north east of Pretoria

Job Type: Permanent

Position Summary: Reporting to the Mine Geologist, the incumbent is responsible for all the Nokeng Fluorspar Mining Operations, open pits for the delivery of the required quantities and qualities of ore as per the business plan to achieve the business goals in a safe and compliant manner cost effectively, compliance to all applicable legislation.

Performance Areas: Assist Mine Geologists with conducting geological tasks, mapping, data collection and interpretation of data. Assist Mine Geologists in overseeing day-to-day running of mining and geological activities. Carry out in-pit blast holes sampling and assist with lab sample preps. Daily ore and waste management. Conduct regular grade control activities, including sampling, assay data validation and reconciliation of mined ore with geological models. Collaborate with other departments to support interdisciplinary projects. Assist in the preparation of technical reports, geological maps/plans and presentations. Assist Mine Geologist in overseeing surveyors and interpretation of survey data to produce required plans and maps. Review Rock Engineer’s reports and assist in ensuring that recommendations are carried out by mining contractor. Participate in geological exploration activities, including drilling operations, core logging and sampling. Drilling programme, assist with technical support to exploration and drilling, co-ordination and supervision. Adhere to SHE protocols in accordance to the MHSA. Geological sampling, analyse surface sampling, mineralogical and chemical in samples, quality analysis and control. Geological modelling, producing and interpretation of 2D and 3D geological models.

Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of engineering and technical activities. Analysing and problem-solving skills. Computer and geological modelling software skills. Must have MicroMine and ArcGis experience. GPS usage.

Required Qualifications: B Degree, NQF Level 6/7 in geological sciences or equivalent. Professional organisation membership. Valid Code 8 Driver’s License. At least 1 to 2 years’ relevant experience in mining operation.

Engineer

Location: Nokeng Fluorspar Mine, situated in the area of Rust De Winter, ± 80km north east of Pretoria

Details: Nokeng Fluorspar Mine is looking to employ an Engineer responsible for the mining and process operations. This position carries a 2.13.1 appointment.

Position Summary: Oversee engineering operations and maintenance of the processing plant. Reporting to the Manager (3.1.a), the incumbent works in a multi-disciplinary team of Mining, Engineering, HR, Finance, Process and Safety to manage the engineering (electrical, mechanical, instrumentation and maintenance) works for the processing plant. These areas extend to tailings storage facility, services (Eskom power supply and water) including quality assurance. As the Engineer, you will also be responsible for the management and legal compliance to the TMM fleet that is operated and maintained by a mining contractor.

Responsibilities as the Appointed 2.13.1 Engineer: Ensure compliance with safety regulation and company policies. Manage and coordinate maintenance activities to ensure equipment availability and reliability. Develop and implement maintenance strategies and plans. Monitor and analyse operations data to identify areas of improvement. Oversee the training and development of engineering personnel. Collaborate with cross-functional teams to drive continuous improvement.

Skills and Abilities: Knowledge of engineering and technical activities. Analysing and problem-solving skills. Computer and geological modelling software skills. Must have MicroMine and ArcGis experience. GPS usage.

Required Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in either Mechanical or Electrical Engineering (NQF Level 7 qualification). GCC mines and works. Minimum of 3 years’ experience in mining environment appointed as a 2.13.3.1 sub-ordinate engineer. Proven experience in fixed and mobile plant. Strong knowledge of mining regulations and best practices. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
